JIM BOB – Better than Cowell's shaved monkeys
posted by jim on 10/05/10
Hello everyone,
I think I've found enough socks, so I'm ready to go off on tour. It all begins tomorrow in Bury St Edmunds and I'm looking forward to it. I'm planning on being brilliant and intend to put all those idiots on X Factor in their place by giving it 111%. That's a whole 1% more than those wannabe gurning fools.
This may be the last chance to buy your Jim Bob tour tickets before the Tories take over and put the booking fees up or make gigs illegal or something. So book now. You can also pay on the door at all the gigs.
Please come or Simon Cowell and his new best friend David Cameron win.

It's almost time for the official Storage Stories publishing date. Amazon sent their copies out super early so we thought we'd better do the same. All books pre ordered direct from us are now in the post and any new orders will be posted straight away.
A big thank you to everyone who's bought the book. Once you've read it, feel free to go on all those websites like amazon.co.uk and review it (unless you think it's a rubbish book, best keep that to yourself).
There should be some interesting reviews and other press coming soon. Keep a look out.
In addition to the May tour dates a few more Jim Bob book events have been added to the calendar, including a couple of festivals, some book signings and a literary punch up. Check 'em all out here

JIM BOB'S MANAGER MARC GIVES US THE ODDS ON WHICH MAY GIG WILL SELL OUT FIRST
posted by jim on 9/04/10
“It’s all go here at ticket sales analysis centre as we look to see which Jim Bob ‘Storage Stories – Storage Songs’ show will sell out first. At 2/1 and hot favourite we have Cambridge. The venue only holds 100 and 78 tickets have been sold already. At 3/1 we have Brighton and both London shows. Brighton has done two thirds of its tickets, and both London shows have sold around 100 of the 150 on sale. Will they have a last minute rally and overtake Cambridge in the final hurdle?
A good outside bet a 10/1 is Manchester. Even though this venue has a bigger capacity than some on the tour (250) it’s already sold a hefty old chunk of pre sale tickets. Rank outsider though at 50/1 is Dundee. This bad boy has only sold a handful so far. So if you are near or close to Dundee buy some tickets forthwith. Don’t let us down Scotland.

Sheriff Fatso or Mrs MacMurphyface?
posted by jim on 10/03/10
Hello Gang, It's spring. It is still freezing at Team Jim Bob Towers but I have seen the sun a couple of times and we have a fantastic array of birds fighting over the nuts or whatever it is Mrs Jim Bob puts in that little net thing hanging from the tree outside our front room window. Anyway. What songs should I take out of storage this May? I'm going to be reading from my novel on the tour and also singing a ton of songs but with so many to choose from – both solo and CARTER USM – I can't decide which ones to perform. I've set up a Facebook Group asking for suggestions. Why not join it here: WHAT SONGS DO YOU WANT JIM BOB TO SING? I really want to make these shows extra special. You should come along and join in the fun. Tickets are on sale for all tour dates – details here
'STORAGE STORIES' I've been blown away by what some people have been saying about my novel. I hope they don't mind me sharing some of what they've said. It's nice to not have to always blow my own trumpet. Dave Gorman said that it's 'Charming, funny, tender and delicate." He also said, "It's really very, very good." Andrew Collins described it as "Kurt Vonnegut meets Carter USM." Eddie Argos said, "I read it straight through in one go and then went back and read it again." Isy Suttie said "It's fucking brilliant." And Chris Addison is in the middle of reading it and he says, "I am totally loving the book. Really, really enjoying it." PRE ORDER YOUR COPY by clicking just up there to the right and I'll sign the book and you'll get it before those bought elsewhere.
That's all for now. Stay sexy.

MESSAGE FROM JIM BOB'S MANAGER MARC
posted by jim on 18/02/10
Hello everyone, I hope you are well and that 2010 has got off to a lovely start for you all.
Look up the top of the page, over there to the right. You can already pre order Jim Bob's debut novel ‘Storage Stories’, which is published on May 6th. I have read it and it’s flippin’ amazing. It’s funny but it’s also very dark and sad and almost had me shed a tear or two. I am tough though so I just pinched myself. Lots of other people in the business they call ‘show’ also think it’s a work of genius (and more of their comments later). I really think this book is going to do very well indeed and this is going to be the year of Storage Stories! To launch the book Jim Bob is going to start off by touring the UK in May. This will comprise of around 16 or so dates under the show title of ‘Storage Stories/Storage Songs’. These will not be ordinary Jim Bob gigs (as if there is such a thing... but you get my drift). The shows will comprise of hilarious readings from the book, songs performed old and new, as well as some special bonuses. And there will be bubbles of course... Advance tickets are now on sale Full details here
I really would advise you to book in advance now. I can promise you these really will be fantastic performances, with that little bit extra. And each date deserves to sell out. It was worth noting that both London dates have already sold over half the tickets, and we have sold half the tickets for Cambridge too. I also think that being such small venues Brighton and Glasgow may sell out early. We will keep you updated on special guests that will be performing before Jim Bob. I am delighted to announce that Isy Suttie (Dobby from Peep Show!) has been added for both London on May 19 and for the Brighton show. Isy is a great comedian with some top songs of her own. I can’t wait to see her! So what are you waiting for – book a ticket! We have kept prices as low as possible and the highest ticket price we have is £9 with most shows at the £7-£8 mark. Storage Stories/Storage Songs is going to be amazing. We have also already confirmed performances at two major UK festivals this summer with more to follow soon I hope. More of this to come but don’t miss it on its first run. More soon, Marc x

JIM BOB NOVEL – TOUR AND TV SHOW
posted by jim on 19/01/10
Jim Bob’s first novel STORAGE STORIES is published by TEN FORTY BOOKS on May 6th
DON’T PANIC You can already pre order the book from various online bookshops, but if you wait till the beginning of February and pre order direct from us at tenfortybooks.com your copy of the book will be signed by Jim Bob and should reach you slightly before books ordered from elsewhere (On or just before May 6th)
‘STORAGE STORIES – STORAGE SONGS’ To coincide with the book there’ll be a UK tour, where Jim Bob will read from the novel and perform songs from his back catalogue: both Carter USM and solo. He also promises a slide show and bubble machines – like a cross between the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures and a foam party at Ibiza’s Manumission.
The tour dates are not all confirmed yet but many are confirmed and tickets are on sale now. More dates will be added very shortly. Check the gigs page for details
Also, look out for book signing events, press hooplah and hopefully a load of TV and radio appearances nearer the book’s publication date.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BOOK
Where do old pop stars go to die? They go to work in self-storage, where they meet interesting people and make new friends. Friends who look like French movie star Juliette Binoche and others who look like weirdly bearded paedophiles and perform horrific surgery procedures on themselves. They meet interesting people like Michael Stipe – not the rock singer from Athens Georgia, just a coincidence – and other assorted bubblewrap fetishists, wooden statues that come to life at night to play arcade games and a homicidal computer named HAL.
Storage Stories is a darkly comic rollercoaster ride full of thrills, spills and warm sick on the back of the neck. A fictional autobiographical novel and collection of short stories told in words and pictures that, if nothing else, finally solves the mystery of what happened to all the missing boybands.
Storage Stories is published by Ten Forty Books on May 6th (ISBN: 978-0-9564049-0-9)

It's Chriiiiiiisssstttmmmaaaaaasss!
posted by jim on 23/12/09
It was a spectacular end to the year for me. Not long after performing with a 23 piece choir I got to sing with a 27 piece orchestra (forgive me if either of these numbers are slightly inaccurate but it's around those amounts). And then my finished novel arrived. Next year is set up to be exciting, with lots of live shows planned around the publishing of the book. Thanks for all the support in 2009. Have a very happy Christmas. Jim Bob x
