Recorded in London, Hampshire and Cornwall with a full band including a 12 voice teenage choir, the new Jim Bob album 'A Humpty Dumpty Thing' began life when Jim was asked to write a song for Mark Ravenhill's hit pantomime 'Dick Whittington & His Cat' in 2007. Jim wrote six songs. Two ended up in the Barbican's Christmas show.
The others were adapted to form the beginnings of this new Jim Bob LP. The most obvious Dick Whittington trace is left in the song 'Cartoon Dad', with its chorus of 'I thought the streets were paved with gold / I always thought my fortune flowed / all along the River Thames / from Westminster to Southend into the sea'.
Other songs feature a man whose only friends are his Ikea office furniture, an overweight and lonely drunk running the London Marathon, a love song from a soldier sent overseas and a blog written by God.
Initial limited copies of the album came with the twelve thousand word Jim Bob mini novel 'Word Count'. Set in the not too distant future when all art is commissioned by the State, the story follows a man with writer's block chosen to write an 80 thousand word novel or face a jail term.
Tracklisting: 1. All The King's Horses 2. Cartoon Dad 3. Every Day When I Come Home I Expect To Find You Gone 4. God's Blog 5. Robin, Patrik And Chris 6. Another Day At The Office 7. The Carousel 8. This Phoney War 9. Pizza Boy 10. Battling The Bottle (Fighting The Flab, At War With The World) 11. Why Can't We Get Along? 12. From This Moment 13. The I Can't Face The World Today Blues

Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine were a duo, threeo and eventually sixxo formed by South London friends Jim Morrison and Les Carter who made their name with a mix of social commentary, puns, loud guitars and electronic pop music.
They had fourteen top forty singles in the UK and released seven studio albums, one of which reached number one in the UK charts. During their ten year career, Carter USM - as they became known - played nearly 800 live gigs all over the world. Ten years of riots, strip searches, murder accusations, rugby tackling childrens’ television presenters and almost meeting Gilbert O’Sullivan. This is their story… some would say it’s a rollercoaster ride, but Jim Bob describes it as more like a “1980's sporty hatchback”.

After a long wait, JSSW's debut album was finally released on MusicBlitz - an American online record label - and as such, never made it into the shops. A beautiful piece of work, cherished by those lucky enough to own it.
The actual release date prompted much lively debate at TJB HQ: Jim's records showed the release date to be 19/03/2001, however Mr Spoons distictly remembers playing it on the way to a Palace away game at Anfield in Jan 2001. He even referenced it in the match report in the Palace Echo - entitled "A Bad Day".
Mr Spoons also remembers an informal piss-up at the long-since gone British Queen in Brixton on 12/01/2001, ostensibly, to celebrate the album launch. It was the first time Team Jim Bob came together for a drink outside of gigs. Jim & Les also sang an impromptu version of Happy Birthday down the phone to Mr Spoons' wife at midnight - hence how he remembers the date so clearly.
Thus with that weight of evidence, we are going with the 12/01/2001.

Jim's first released outing, following the break-up of Carter USM. Jim's Super Stereoworld were a virtual band, and possibly, where Damon Albarn nicked the idea for Gorillaz from. This strange, quirky single garnered a fair amount of airplay, but was a complete bugger to find in the shops, which didn't help sales. The B-sides both became live favourites.
The version of Bonkers in the Nut is slightly different to the one that appeared on Jim's Super Stereoworld's debut album.

OTHER STUFF
There's a fair number of tracks that Jim has been recorded or been involved with, down the years, that have so far gone unrecorded by this Discography.
Click for synopsis and more details »« Close extra details
The earliest of these is probably the 1999 colloboration between Ian Dury, Fuzz Townsend and JSSW entitled "Y2K - The Bug is Coming" (see cover opposite). The novelty single was released by MBug in the run-up to the Millenium - Cat No: MBUG001 - it also contained three additional remixes: (Latino, Instrumental and - you guessed it - Latino Instrumental). Now long since deleted, thankfully.
In 2001, Jim donated a track to the Spinach Records Compliation "There's a Madman on the Roof" under the guise of The George Dong Singers (JSSW's occasional backing vocalists) eponomously titled "We are the George Dong Singers" - this compliation is still available from the Carter USM shop.
Around that time, JSSW also appeared on the Snakebite City Ten Compliation with a previously unreleased track entitled "Leon Knight's Record Shack" - it should be noted that the Leon Knight in question was not the then-Seaweed Hove Albion striker of the same name.
There are also a few unreleased JSSW tracks still in Jim's locker, including: JSSW leave Fierce Panda; studio versions of the live covers: I love Rock n Roll and Beautiful Doll; and alternate versions of Partyworld & Welcome to Jim's Super Stereoworld.
In 2001, Jim, Les and Jason Bootle formed the Who's the Daddy Now? supergroup. There were three releases under this banner. The first, a CD single called The Beeper Song was released in Sepetmeber 2001 b/w Chanson de la Beeper, She's the Daddy Now and Beeper Beat. Three months on, a Christmas CD single was released: Daddy Xmas b/w A Daddy Christmas Eve and (Thank Gawd 4) Boxing Day. This was followed up a year later with a live album called 'Ding Dong' showcasing tracks by The Iinviisiibles, Abdou and JSSW, together with the Carter encores from the first tour. The JSSW tracks that appeared were: Big Flash Car, Young & Dumb & Full of Fun (sic) and You're My Mate. This album is still available from the Carter USM shop.
Early in 2002, Jim recorded The Abdoujaparov Theme in a Lounge stylee for a free giveaway to the first 200 people who ordered the debut Abdou album online. Jim also supplied backing vocals on parts of the album. Also that year , Jim remixed the Deadbeat Radicals single: Little Yellow Mini which was released on the Bluefire Label. Cat No blu23.
In 2006, Jim penned six tracks for Mark Ravenhill's Pantomime Dick Whittington and his Cat. Two tracks were eventually used in the production: The Lord Mayors Show and King Rat - The former was available to download from Jim's Myspace site for a few months in 2007. The remaining tracks were used as ideas for the Humpty Dumpty Thing album.
Later in 2007, Jim recorded backing vocals for several tracks during sessions for Chris T-T's album, Capital.
On the occasion of Les's 50th Birthday, Jim wrote and performed the one-off Song for Les at the Brixton Windmill.
Jim has also covered a number of songs live, most of which have seen studio versions appear on the various giveaway CD-Rs above. A handful that haven't (yet) seen the light of day include That's what I go to School for, London Calling and Merry Xmas (War is Over).
